It is 11:00 pm at night and I am finishing packing for my long excursion to London. I am very excited, although anxious to get to London to get settled, unpack and orientate myself around the city (so I know exactly where I am and where various places are). I cannot think about the US and am planning to have an open mind, experience new cultures, foods, and entertainment. This is a once in a life time opportunity to have a trip of this magnitude. My plans are to do "weekend getaways" with people that I meet to travel to Ireland, Spain, Italy, France and Greece. I hope things will go well.
Packing went pretty well. I said goodbye to my family, my friends and my home. I am still finalizing some packing and my parents are trying to get my suit into my suitcase. Overall though, it went smoothly and I hope I can sleep tonight. I also changed my voicemail to take into account that I will be away for a while - you are more than welcome to hear it if you like! :)
I learned that some things just cannot be planned and that you must be spontaneous and live on the edge, live in the moment, to experience true beauty and greatness. It is in these moments that you will have the most fun! I also learned that money cannot be an object. I can be very conservative and I like to save my money, but I promised myself that during this trip I will not not do something because of monetary reasons. I am going to take every offer and just enjoy it. I will worry about the money later after graduation. Now is the time to explore, to be a kid and just to have fun. I will probably never have the opportunity like this again so I will take up the moment, live in the moment, and enjoy life!!
