I Finally Feel Like I Am In London

So the past few days, I did not feel like I was in London - it just didn't hit me, until today. The day started off with meeting a few friends to visit our internship places for our interviews. We went to Richmond (zone 4) and it was a 30 minute tube ride. The tube also tells you to "please mind the gap when you exit" because there is a gap between the platform and the tube. It is funny every time I hear it.

At Richmond, we took a double decker red bus to one of the internship places. As we were trying to find the place, I asked an old English lady, who replied, "Oh darlin' you are right next to it." That just made my day. After eating a great delicious croissant, we headed back to meet some other people at the South Kensington tube station.

From South Kensington, we went to Tower Hill where we took many pictures of the Tower of London. We ate at a pub and I ordered a chicken sandwich. After the pub, we walked toward the Tower of London and got some great shots of the Tower Bridge (the famous London bridge) and the Gerken (a very modern building - it is actually an insurance company). We took a tour of the Tower of London, which was great, and we learned some great history about London and the Tower. Our tour guide was very informative and funny. Each of the tour guides wore some great outfits. We also saw many ravens too! One of the queens of Henry VIII - had her death anniversary today, so there were some flowers too. In the chapel of the Tower of London, many queens' remains are under the altar or under the floor. There are also two saints burred there too, one being Saint Thomas More. We then visited the crown jewels and I took some "illegal" pictures of them. We saw the guards protecting the jewels as well. They are amazing and some rare diamonds and stones are in there. We then took a look at King Henry VIII's armor and various weaponry. After that, we went around the Tower of London, saw some graffiti from the prisoners, and headed to take some other pictures of the Tower Bridge. I found a restaurant named Paul and I took a picture with it too! We then shopped at the gift shop.

Next, everyone else went shopping, while I went to Embarkment to see where my internship is located. I found it fine, and I saw some great sights and my first sight of Big Ben from there at Trafalgar Square. It is very businessy there and I have some great monuments and sights a block from where I work. I am very excited.

Tonight, we are going to take some night shots of Big Ben and the Tower Bridge. I'll post them on the blog when I get back.

Cherrio!
